Biography

Werner Scharf was born on September 19, 1905 in Leipzig, Germany. He was an actor and writer, known for Madame Bovary (1937), An Ideal Spouse (1935) and Fronttheater (1942). He died on April 30, 1945 in Rathenow, Germany.

Supporting actor, the son of a chemist, on stage from 1927. He appeared in German films of the 1930's and 40's, often as handsome, smartly-attired gigolos or crooks. After being conscripted in 1944, Scharf was killed in action during the closing stages of World War II on the Eastern Front.

The actor Werner Scharf made his film debut in 1929 with "Ins Blaue hinein" and he became established as a support actor in well-known productions of the 30's.

When World War II drew to a close Werner Scharf, who was drafted to the Volkssturm in 1944, was killed on April 30, 1945 at the age of 40.

During wartime he was able to take part in successful productions like "Stern von Rio" (1940), "Titanic" (1943), "Akrobat Schööön! (1943) and "Kolberg" (1945).

He was killed in battle on April 30th, 1945 (the same day Adolf Hitler killed himself).
