Biography

Tony Scannell was born on August 14, 1945 in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland. He was an actor, known for Flash Gordon (1980), Waking the Dead (2000) and Evil Never Dies (2014). He was married to Melanie Self. He died on May 26, 2020 in Suffolk, England, UK.

He converted to Buddhism after being introduced to the religion by his partner Agnes Lillis.

In addition to his son by his marriage to Melanie Self, he also had a daughter from a relationship with Penny Ansell, and a son and daughter with his partner Agnes Lillis.

After he and Agnes Lillis moved to Beccles, near Lowestoft, in Suffolk in 1995, they set up a theatre company, Eastbound, and taught adult acting at evening classes at the Seagull Theatre in Lowestoft.
