Biography

SHEILA SAWHNY writer, director and actress, hails from Bombay, India. She moved to Queens, NY with her family as a teenager. She is a winner of the Slamdance Feature Screenplay Competition, and a Fellow of the Outfest Screenwriting Lab and the DreamAgo Plume et Pellicle Screenwriting Lab in Switzerland. She wrote and starred in theatrical productions ALL RIGHT MAN and THE BEST BEST WESTERN. A founding member of Synchronicity Theatre Group NY, she has acted, written, directed and produced in NY, LA and Europe. She is the writer and director of NO TELL MOTEL which premiered at Studio Stage and BABY STEPS produced at VS Theatre. Favorite acting roles include Emily in the European tour of OUR TOWN, Georgie in the acclaimed LA theatrical production of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. She is the Programming Manager of Film Independent's Global Media Makers and just completely principal photography on short film STAY WITH ME from Panther Pictures.
