Richard Savitt was born on March 4, 1927 in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA. He was an actor, known for The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg (1998) and Just Tell Me What You Want (1980). He was married to Louise and Annelle Hayes. He died on January 6, 2023 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

Inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1979.

Inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1976.

Inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

Tennis star ranked number 2 in the world, who won the Australian and Wimbledon Grand Slam tournaments in 1951 but quit a year later at age 25 to go into business.

As a youth, he also played football and basketball, He was co-captain of his high school basketball team, and earned a basketball scholarship to Cornell University. After serving in the Navy, he enrolled at Cornell but suffered a knee injury that essentially ended his basketball career.
