- Fred Sauer was born on July 14, 1886 in Graz, Styria, Austria-Hungary [now Austria]. He was a director and writer, known for Im Dienste der Liebe (1919), Der indische Tod (1920) and Die Gesunkenen (1919). He died on September 17, 1952 in Berlin, Germany.
- Austrian writer-director of the 1920's and 30's. A specialist in comedies, he often featured the renowned Bavarian comic Weiss-Ferdl and the Danish duo of Pat and Patachon. Sauer was trained in Graz and began his career as an actor with touring repertory companies in 1909.
- Especially comedies with the comedian legend Weiss-Ferdl - "Der Meisterboxer" (1934) and "Der Lachdoktor" (1937) - and of course the first appearance of the Danish cult-duo Pat & Patachon in a German movie called "Mädchenräuber" (1936) - to which followed "Blinde Passagiere" (1936) - enjoyed a huge popularity.
