Narayanrao Sarpotder D. was born on 11 February 1896 in Nandavali, Bombay Presidency, British India. He was a director and writer, known for Jai Vijay (1930), Chandrarao More (1925) and Shamsher Bahadur (1930). He died on 23 April 1940 in Poona, Bombay Presidency, British India.

Also known as Nanasaheb Sarpotdar, he began his career on the stage before entering films during the silent era. His production house Aryan Film Company produced over twenty silent pictures.
