Biography

Maria Sapundzhieva was born in Varna on June 6,1969. In 1992, she graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in the class of Professor Atanas Ilkov . She has worked in First Private Theatre "La Strada", in Little City Theatre "Off the Channel" . There are many theater roles, including in the plays "Urbuleshka tragedy" of Dushan Kovachevich , "Big Magic" by Edward de Filippo , "Tanya, Tanya" by Olya Mukhina , "Robbers" by Friedrich Schiller , "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare . In 2000, she joined the troupe of the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" , where she had performances in "Decameron or Blood and passion Boccaccio" , directed by Alexander Morfov , "Ghosts in Naples" by Edward de Filippo, "Santa Claus trash " and " Bewitching night " by Zhozian Balasko , " Women Jake " by Neil Simon , " Month of the village " by Ivan Turgenev , " Let's take a wife from the village " by William Uicharli , " The House of Bernarda Alba " by Federico Garcia Lorca , "Yun Gabriel Borkman" by Henrik Ibsen , "Ivanov" by Anton Chekhov . In 2010, she has included in the popular comedy series " Complete Madness " in the role of Mama Bozhko. In 1997, Sapundzhieva received the prize of Union of Bulgarian Actors for his role in "Tanya, Tanya" . In 2001, she won the Award " Asker " for Supporting actress in "Decameron or Blood and passion Boccaccio" . In 2010, she received the Award "Icarus" for Best Actress in the play "Molly Sweeney" by Brian Frial, directed by Borislav Chakrinov .
