Biography

Edoardo Sanguineti was born on December 9, 1930 in Genoa, Liguria, Italy. He was a writer and actor, known for Non ho tempo (1973), A grande richiesta (1981) and Orlando furioso (1974). He was married to Luciana Garabello. He died on May 18, 2010 in Genoa, Liguria, Italy.

He was a poet, playwright, essayist, and critic who was a leading figure in Italy's avant-garde literary scene in the 1960s. He was a founder of the "Gruppo 63" of experimental poets.

He was a legislator in Italy's parliament from 1979 to 1983. He referred to himself as "the last Marxist".

He was an authority on Dante, and taught literature at several Italian universities.
