10/1/66: "Billboard" presented a Gold Record to the widow of Ronald Blackwell, songwriter of the hit single "Li'l Red Riding Hood".

While still a schoolboy in Dallas, TX, he learned how to play the guitar and later formed a group with some friends, one of whom was Trini López.

Inducted into Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
