Biography

Silje Salomonsen is a Norwegian actress, screenwriter and director known for groundbreaking work and strong performances. Together with her husband and collaborator Arild Østin Ommundsen, they have made their own distinctive films and TV series that engage audiences both domestically and internationally. They have won several international and national film awards.

From their home on the west coast of Norway, they have laid the foundation for the concept of «Stavangerfilm» and work uncompromisingly to create their productions on the outskirts of the centralized Norwegian film industry. They often get a lot out of small budgets without compromising on either the story or the craftsmanship. This has resulted in groundbreaking work and films such as "Eventyrland", "Now It's Dark", "Everything Must Go" and "Sisters: The summer we found our superpowers''. The latter was made with the couple's daughters in the leading roles and achieved great success in festivals and at the box office.

Silje takes on any necessary role to bring a film project to life. She has worked as a casting director, costume designer, set designer, and sound technician in addition to writing scripts, directing, co-directing and acting. She has also worked as a professional musician, plays the violin and sings with Thomas Dybdahl.
