Biography

On the way to the first meeting for another documentary film with Kiarostami, he had an asthma attack, stayed in a coma for four months, and passed away at the age of 52.

Had a wife and two children.

He was the main star in Abbas Kiarostami's 1990 masterpiece Close-Up playing himself. He reportedly fell into a deep depression after the film, feeling deeply alienated in public, and he spent the final years of his life selling DVDs on a bus in Tehran, Iran.
