Biography

Julian Royce was born on March 26, 1868 in Bristol, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Criminal at Large (1932), Not Negotiable (1918) and Temptation's Hour (1916). He was married to Bertha Emilie Herzog (actress - stage name: Ivy Hertzog) and Elizabeth Mary Day (actress - stage name: Norah Day). He died on May 10, 1946 in Hailsham, Sussex, England, UK.

Royce was one of the first actors to portray Sherlock Holmes on stage, touring England with Charles Frohman's company in 1902. He was, however, overshadow by his rival for the part - H. A. Saintsbury - who made the role his own by 1904.
