- She was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne. For some time, she lived on the old Byker Estate. She trained for the theatre at London's Central School of Speech and Drama. After working in regional theatre, she made her television debut in South of the Border which ran for two series, then stared in Soldier Soldier for five seasons, along with several episodes of Casualty. In addition, there were appearances in Band of Gold III, The Bill and Where There's Smoke, before she made her film debut in Gabriel and Me.
