- David Rotan was born on October 16, 1975 in Albemarle, North Carolina, USA. He is a director and editor, known for Bloodspawn (2024), Lost Stallions: The Journey Home (2008) and Pirate Kids: Blackbeard's Lost Treasure (2004).
- While at UNC, produced/directed/edited/acted in comedy sketches for the show "Off the Cuff" broadcast on UNC Student Television.
- Two older brothers are also filmmakers: John Rotan (cinematographer) and Aaron Rotan (writer,director).
- Before film school, attended UNC-Chapel Hill for two years (1994-1996).
- Graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking, 2000 -- concentration was in Editing & Post Production, but also directed (Flowers & Freckle Cream) as his graduate thesis project.
