Married to Jeanette Roberts-Ross for 7 years they had a daughter ( deceased-Feb, 10, 1981-October 28, 2018) Niema Simone Ross-Ferguson and a step-son Shenazar Roberts. Monty has 6 beautiful grandchildren. Monty was a part of the Drama team for Clark College and won many awards for the school for his talent.

He and <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0000490/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Spike Lee</a> were friends and classmates at Morehouse College in
Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Graduated from Omaha North High School of Omaha Nebraska in 1975.
