- Is half Puerto Rican and Native American.
- Was the first Village person recruited in to the Village people.
- Although the correct term would be The Native American, throughout the Village People's career he was known as (and dressed like) 'The Indian', which fit since there was also The Cowboy in the group, and both dressed liken to an old school "Cowboys and Indians" movie.
- Makes a horn/siren-like sound with his voice (which can be heard and seen throughout the Village People movie Can't Stop The Music).
- The Village People were awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6529 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
- He was working as a go-go dancer and a bartender/waiter at The Anvil, a New York City BDSM after-hours gay club for men, dressed "as an Indian chief" when he was discovered by French producer/composer Jacques Morali and executive producer Henri Belolo and so became the first recruit for Village People.
- Inducted into Native American Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
