- In 1981, he founded the entertainment company Viva Communications, Inc. (later known as Viva Entertainment), a major Philippine multimedia company engaged in film and television production, music recording, talent management, book publishing, and live events.
- Co-founded the music label company Vicor Music with cousin Orly Ilacad in 1966. He served as the company president while Ilacad as general manager. Vicor is a portmanteau of the first syllable of their respective names. Vicor is now owned by Del Rosario's Viva Music Group, a subsidiary of Viva Communications.

- The Viva in his Viva Entertainment is a portmanteau of his youngest daughter's name Vina Vanessa, who died in an arson case in March 30, 1980, a year before the company was built. It was also a portmanteau of their names Vic and Vanessa.
- As the Vicor suffered financial loses and as he was gripping over the death of his then three-year-old child Vina Vanessa del Rosario in an arson case, del Rosario left Vicor, It was taken over by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Del Rosario later reacquired Vicor in 2008. It is now under Viva Music Group.
