Mickey Rooney Jr.

Trivia

Mickey Rooney Jr.

  • Son of Mickey Rooney and Betty Jane Rase (aka B.J. Baker).
  • Auditioned for and was hired as a Mouseketeer on The Mickey Mouse Club (1955), but was fired a few weeks later. Although he has never said why, other Mousketeers have said that it was because he and his brother Tim Rooney, also a Mousketeer, got into the paint room and started mixing cans of paint together. (1955)
  • His guitar playing can be both seen and heard in the b-movie cult classic Hot Rods to Hell. The opening credits and chase scenes have his "combo" playing (with him on lead guitar), and in the last half of the movie, he plays live in a nightclub where all the characters wind up.
  • Appeared with actresses Mimsy Farmer and Laurie Mock in the cult classic Hot Rods to Hell; the same year, 1967, his brother Tim Rooney appeared with the same two actresses in Riot on Sunset Strip.
  • Older brother of Tim Rooney.
  • Half-brother of Teddy Rooney and Jimmy Rooney.
  • Grandson of Joe Yule
  • Was a member of the surfing music group The Sunrays, which had a hit with "I Live For the Sun", although Rooney did not play on that record. (1965)
  • Ex-stepbrother of David Kessel and Dan Kessel.
  • Stepson of Jan Rooney.
