- Rogosin was a political filmmaker of cutting-edge documentaries, once said by John Cassavetes to be "probably the greatest documentary filmmaker of all time." His film "On the Bowery" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary and his second film "Come Back, Africa" launched the career of Miriam Makeba and gave voice to the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa.
