- Following her husband Denholm Elliott's death, she stayed in England, eventually moving to a one-bedroom flat in north London. She suffered injuries from a fire in the flat on 11th April, 2007. Her neighbour, journalist Rob Lyons, tried to save her during the fire and was able to move her from her wheelchair down to the street to wait for the ambulance to arrive. She died a day later.
