Jazz vibraphonist and percussionist Frank Ricotti was born on January 13, 1949 in London, England. Born into a musical family, Ricotti decided to follow in his drummer father's footsteps by taking up percussion. Frank played in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra as a teenager before going on to attend the Trinity College of Music in London, England from 1967 to 1970. Moreover, Ricotti led his own jazz quartet in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Among the notable jazz musicians who Frank worked with are Neil Ardley, Michael Gibbs, Stan Tracey, Graham Collier, and Norma Winstone. A prolific session musician, Ricotti has recorded with a veritable who's who of pop and rock music which includes Leo Sayer, Tina Turner, Rick Wakeman, Pet Shop Boys, Status Quo, Freddie Mercury, Oasis, Swing Out Sister, The Art of Noise, Meat Loaf, Gerry Rafferty, and Mark Knopfler. Moreover, Frank has also composed scores for several TV mini-series as well has worked profusely as a percussionist on a slew of film scores.
