Son of Sid Klein, a stockbroker, and Shirly Klein, a housewife.

When he was young, his parents, noticing their son&#39;s fine voice, enrolled him in the Marie Moses School of Dance and Singing.

Started out as a cabaret singer, then became a casting director and, eventually, a producer.
