Reyer survived the crash of an Air France Super Constellation on Christmas Eve 1958 at Vienna's Schwechat Airport (the pilot had overshot the runway during a severe nightly rainstorm and the plane came to rest in a nearby field). Amazingly, all 34 passengers, including Reyer, got out of the burning plane before it exploded.
