Jay Rescher was born on 2 January 1893 in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA. He was a cinematographer, known for Girl of the Sea (1920), Wet Gold (1921) and The Uninvited Guest (1924). He was married to Jean Tolley. He died on 11 August 1973 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

Father of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0005842/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Gayne Rescher</a>.

Instrumental in founding the first union to include cinematographers, New York Local 644.

His son with silent film star <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0866126/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Jean Tolley</a> was the cinematographer <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0005842/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Gayne Rescher</a>.
