  • Gottfried Reinhardt was born on March 20, 1913 in Berlin, Germany. He was a director and producer, known for Vor Sonnenuntergang (1956), Town Without Pity (1961) and Betrayed (1954). He was married to Silvia Hanlon Shapiro. He died on July 19, 1994 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

  • Hi stepson, born Stephen Roy Shapiro 27 March , 1931 in New York City, took the Reinhardt name after his mother married Gottfried. He thus became Stephen Reinhardt, a famous judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco. He served from 1980 to his death on 29 March 2018.
  • Son of Max Reinhardt and Else Heims and brother of Wolfgang Reinhardt.
  • Went to Hollywood in 1932, to work for director Ernst Lubitsch. He subsequently joined MGM as an assistant to Walter Wanger, then graduated to writing and production. During World War II, he made documentaries for the Army Signals Corps. He resumed his career as producer or associate producer with MGM after 1945, including A-grade films like Command Decision (1948) and The Red Badge of Courage (1951). In the early 1960's, Reinhardt worked as an independent producer/director, in both Europe and in the U.S. He also directed for the stage in Salzburg, Austria.

  • Founded an arts centre and archive in Berlin dedicated to the achievements of his illustrious father.
