As of 2017, he had involvement (whether as co-producer or assistant director) in nine films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Tootsie (1982), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), GoodFellas (1990), JFK (1991), Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Black Swan (2010) and The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020). Of those, only The Departed (2006) is a winner in the category.
