Luke Reichle

Biography

  • Luke Reichle is a costume and fashion designer, fine artist and award-winning author. His film and television career encompasses work for every major film studio and television network with over 300 pieces of filmed entertainment to his credit.

Luke launched himself out of his hometown of Holtville, Ca, best know for being the Carrot Capitol of the World, to study psychology and art at UCSD and creative writing at San Fransisco State University. Upon graduation from San Francisco's Pacific Fashion Institute he promptly moved to New York where he landed a job at Perry Ellis as a pattern maker, later advancing to the design room. Subsequently he designed for Calvin Klein, Alexander Julian, The Arrow Shirt Company and BBDG Eu. Freelance contracts have run the gamut from Levi-Strauss to Harley-Davidson.

After a series of rag trade debacles, he sought refuge working for costume designers on the New York film and theater scene, taken under wing by the legendary Costume Depot troika of Ann Roth, Gary Jones and Jane Greenwood. He was fortunate to learn from the best, eventually assisting film designers Albert Wolsky and Ruth Myers before taking on his own projects. A turning point in his career occurred when he met director Michael Ritchie, resulting in a fruitful collaboration over fifteen years which included The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader Murdering Mom for HBO and Michael's passion project, a film of the long running Off-Broadway musical, The Fantasticks! for MGM. At the turn of the century, Luke was lured into series work by director Danny Canon for a project at Jerry Bruckheimer Television. It has been here, on the small screen, he feels that he has made his most significant contributions.
