Ron Reis

Retired American professional wrestler known for his appearances in WCW from 1995 to 1998. He is the son of Ron Reis Sr. who was a member of the University of Cincinnati basketball team that won the NCAA Championships in 1961 and again in 1962. Ron attended Santa Clara University, where he followed in his father's footsteps by playing basketball. He was trained by John Minton and debuted in 1994 for the New England-based International Wrestling Federation. On the October 23, 1995, "WCW Monday Nitro," the Master (Curtis Iaukea) of the Dungeon of Doom cut a promo about how the Sherpa guides had dug out a "13-ton of ice" and that the Dungeon's "insurance policy" had been delivered. "The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan told Mean Gene Okerlund that his "father" had gone with the Sherpa guides to get the Yeti, who would be the insurance policy for the Giant (Paul Wight)'s match with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan at "WCW Halloween Havoc 95." At the end of the episode, Hogan started brawling with the Dungeon of Doom when the floor started shaking and the Yeti, a huge guy in a mummy outfit, broke out of the ice. At "Halloween Havoc," Jimmy Hart, Hogan's manager, turned heel on him. The Giant locked Hogan in a bear hug while Lex Luger and Randy Savage ran down to the ring. The Yeti followed and he and the Giant locked on a double bear hug, while Luger turned heel and stomped Savage. The Yeti gimmick disappeared after this show. Reis was repackaged as the Super Giant Ninja. He was eliminated from the battle royal at "WCW World War III 95," lost to WCW United States Heavyweight Champion the One Man Gang on the January 20 (taped January 10), 1996 "WCW Saturday Night," and squashed Barry Houston on the January 29, 1996 "WCW Prime Wrestling." He was reintroduced in August as Big Ron Studd, a tribute to his trainer, sometimes billed only as Ron Studd. He won some matches but also lost several and disappeared again. He was absent for all of 1997. He returned as Reese and joined Raven's (Scott Levy) Flock on the March 2, 1998 "WCW Monday Nitro." Raven claimed that Reese's size had made him an outcast. He left after losing to Perry Saturn on the June 29, 1998 "WCW Monday Nitro," never returning to WCW. He jumped to New Japan Pro Wrestling and competed as BB (for Big Bomb) Jones. He competed for Dusty Rhodes's Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling as Ron Studd and for Vince Russo's Christian-themed promotion Ring of Glory as Evil before he retired in 2005. He is a former TCW (Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling) Tag Team Champion with Glacier (Ray Lloyd). At Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling's February 2, 2002 show, Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes (Dustin Rhodes)and Ron Studd defeated Fake Goldust, Jason Sugarman and Scotty Riggs (Scotty Antol) in a Tables Ladders and Chairs match, making the 7'3 Reis the tallest wrestler to ever compete in a TLC match.
