Biography

Eddi Reader was born on August 28, 1959 in Anderston, Glasgow, Scotland, UK. She is an actress and composer, known for Me and Orson Welles (2008), Your Cheatin' Heart (1990) and My First Mister (2001).

She has two children, Charlie (born 1989) and Sam (born 1993)

She was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2006 Queen's New Year's Honours List for her services to music.

Performing career began in the early 1980s when she traveled around Europe with a team of circus and performance artists. There followed spells as a backing vocalist for a punk band, a backing singer with the Eurythmics and a No 1 hit single, Perfect, with the group Fairground Attraction in 1988. Follow up single, Find my Love, reached UK number 7 before the band split.

Winner of the 1995 Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist.
