- David Rawnsley was born in 1909 in Sevenoaks, Kent, England, UK. He was an art director, known for The Frog (1937), A Southern Maid (1934) and One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1942). He was married to Dorothy Bartlam. He died in 1977 in Capri, Italy.

- He was head of a research group known as Production Facilities (Films) Ltd within the J. Arthur Rank Organization. He invented the Independent Frame as a production economy, testing it's efficiency through his own company, Aquila Films, in 1947. When his films failed to make money at the box office, he abandoned film work, moved to Italy and resumed his work as a potter.
