With Art Carney's passing in 2003, she became the only remaining survivor of The Honeymooners (1955) quartet. Jackie Gleason died in 1987 and Audrey Meadows in 1996.

She got the role of "Trixie" as a result of appearing in a Clorets breath-mint commercial. Jackie Gleason saw the commercial, and was impressed by her. She was cast on The Honeymooners (1955) without having an agent.

As of January 2007, she could often be found sitting at the bar at Sardi's Restuarant in Manhattan, always gracious and pleased to meet [The Honeymooners (1955).] fans, signing autographs and being photographed.

A former chorus girl and featured performer in Broadway musicals, she met Audrey Meadows long before they did The Honeymooners (1955) together. They were once cast in a summer stock production of "No, No, Nanette.".

She moved to New York City in 1943 to pursue an acting career. She took roles on Broadway and landed various television roles.

Though she stated there was not much conversation among cast members of The Honeymooners, everyone showed up on Saturdays to film the show in front of a live studio audience.

After she finished high school, she began working in retail sales for a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Detroit. When a touring company of Stage Door played in Detroit, she auditioned, got a part, and performed for the rest of the tour.

Though she was usually against contemporary television, she was actually a fan of the long-running hit sitcom, The Big Bang Theory (2007).

She performed in summer stock musicals, made commercials, and had a few guest appearances on television shows, including her reprisal of Trixie Norton (along with Audrey Meadows reprising her role as Alice Kramden) in the 1991 episode "Fur Flies" in Hi Honey, I'm Home!.

As a teenager, she acted with the Wayne University Workshop.

Retired from acting in the early 2000s.

Her ashes are located inside the Church of the Transfiguration Columbarium, in Manhattan, New York.
