Biography

Norman Reilly Raine was born on June 23, 1894 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA. He was a writer, known for The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), The Life of Emile Zola (1937) and Sea of Lost Ships (1953). He was married to Elizabeth Prudhomme and Joyce Roberta Pett. He died on July 19, 1971 in Woodland Hills, California, USA.

Probably best remembered by his generation for the 75 "Tug Boat Annie" stories that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post during The Great Depression.

In 1915, while working as a newspaper reporter in Toronto, he joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force. Raine had previously served 4 years in the US Navy.
