This film presents a family of Boers completely turned in on itself in the run-up to the elections which would end the system of apartheid. Some of its images are deeply disturbing, showing the very depths of social and psychological deprivation. And yet the film also shows the human capacity for mutual support and the reaching out for beauty and idealism, which are essential elements for changing the world.
