Her favorite actor was Pedro Armendáriz, her leading man in Dos hijos desobedientes (1960).

In 1966, she renewed her contract with the Mexican CBS record label. She was scheduled to record two albums: one with romantic bolero songs and the other with Mexican folk songs. The romantic album, Acércate más, was released that same year, but Quintana became ill and could not record the folk song album.

She was one of the tallest Mexican actresses of her day.

Second and youngest daughter of Spanish Republican journalist Pedro María Quintana Gragera (1903-1936) and Alejandra Molina Zamora (1914-?), who was originally from Brenes, Seville. Alejandra had been a maid in the household of the affluent Quintana family, and Pedro fell in love with her and married her despite his parents' objection and public scandal. After the execution of her husband during the Spanish Civil War, Alejandra and her two daughters traveled to Lisbon, Portugal, and from there they embarked for Mexico. In 1947, Alejandra married her second husband, a Spanish mechanic named José Díaz Bretal, with whom she had a son.

Was survived by her mother, Alejandra Molina Zamora; her sister, Juana María Quintana Molina; and her half-brother, José Díaz Molina.

Spanish producer Cesáreo González originally offered her the leading role in La verbena de la Paloma (1963), which was eventually given to Concha Velasco.

Was a fan of American movie stars Susan Hayward and Edward G. Robinson.
