Biography

Kalle Päätalo was born on November 11, 1919 in Taivalkoski, Finland. He was a writer, known for Winter of Black Snow (1979), Elämän vonkamies (1986) and The Last Lumbercamp (1977). He was married to Elli Helena (Leena) Janakka and Helvi Maria Ojala. He died on November 20, 2000 in Tampere, Finland.

Fought in the Continuation War

Has seven siblings: Toivo (b. 1918), Martta (b. 1922), Hermanni (b. 1925), Elli (b. 1927), Alma (b. 1930), Aune (b. 1934) and Suoma (b. 1937)

Has two daughters, Riitta (b. 1956) and Elina (b. 1959)

His autobiographical Iijoki-series includes 26 novels and is one of the longest autobiographical works.
