György Pálfi(I)

György Pálfi is a Hungarian filmmaker known for his bold and inventive cinematic style. He gained international acclaim with his debut feature Hukkle (2002), which won the European Discovery/Fassbinder Award at the European Film Awards. His provocative follow-up, Taxidermia (2006), was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section and became one of Hungary's most internationally recognized films. Pálfi has continued to explore unconventional storytelling through works such as Final Cut: Ladies and Gentlemen (2012), Free Fall (2014), and His Master's Voice (2018). His films Hukkle and Taxidermia were both selected as Hungary's submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. A recipient of numerous accolades, he also won the ARTE International Prize at Les Arcs Film Festival for his project The Voice. His latest feature, Perpetuity (2021), was part of the official selection at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2021.
