Ed Punchard

Ed is a film maker, public speaker, explorer, submarine pilot, maritime archaeologist, & former oilfield diver. He co-founded Prospero Productions, which he conceived in 1991. In 1988 Ed survived the world's worst oil rig disaster Piper Alpha which cost 167 lives. He climbed down a rope & led some 20 others to safety. It incited his role as a documentary filmmaker. He advised on Piper Alpha for ITV's World in Action, First Tuesday and the BBC's Panorama. He co- wrote a best-selling book on Piper & redesigned his life to honour those lost & as a commitment to living a good life. Having never made a film Ed became renowned in funding documentaries. Conceiving much of Prospero's work, he fashioned its multifaceted business activities & developed new branches of its work including a unique sub-sea filming unit with a 200m capable submarine. Ed was on the board of Screenwest & a Chairman. In 2023 Ed became a member of the Explorer's Club of New York. His new co. is Immersive Experiences.
