- Purv Pullen made a living imitating birds and animals. His greatest exposure came from his work with Ben Bernie, and with Spike Jones and his City Slickers (using the name Dr. Horatio Q. Birdbath). Frequent radio and movie performer, usually anonymous. Sometimes worked on stage with his ventriloquist doll, Johnny.

- Heard in the San Francisco Bay Area as the voice of "Roscoe the Dog" on the Dr. Ron Rose radio show on KFRC.
- Performed puppet shows at the Nut Tree Restaurant and Tourist Stop in Vacaville, California, during the 1970's and 80's.
- Can be heard doing many of the bird calls at the Disneyland "Enchanted Tiki Room" attraction.
- The "Q" stood for Quinine. Given to him by Spike Jones because they were both "Hard to Take".
