Gladys Presley was born on April 25, 1912 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, USA. She was an actress. She was married to Vernon Presley. She died on August 14, 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.

When Gladys died in 1958, newspapers around the world gave her age as 42, when she was really 46. She'd been lying about her age to conceal the fact that she was four years older than Vernon Presley.

Mother of Elvis Presley. She and Elvis survived the tornado that struck Tupelo on April 5, 1936. That storm did not destroy their home because their house was not in the storm's path. Vernon was out of town due to his search for work at the time.

One of nine children of Robert Lee Smith (1878-1931) and Octavia Luvenia Mansell Smith (1876-1935).

She didn't want people to know she was older than Vernon Presley. She told the press that she married him at 15, even though she was actually 21 at the time.

Great-great-granddaughter on two lines of Morning Dove White, who was said to be Native American.
