Mini bio

  • Sergio Oliva is a Cuban professional bodybuilder, three-time Mr. Olympia (1967-1969). The young man's favorite hobby was sports, which he practiced from early childhood. A little later, Oliva switched to bodybuilding, as he possessed excellent genetics and could quickly gain muscle mass. By the age of 20, he had become Cuba's top bodybuilder.

In 1966, Sergio won the Mr. America title and earned his long-awaited professional bodybuilding card. That same year, he won the Mr. World competition and competed in his first Mr. Olympia, where he finished fourth. 1967 was a successful year for the athlete. Oliva won the Mr. Universe title and the Mr. Olympia title. In 1969, the young but talented Arnold Schwarzenegger stood alongside Oliva on the Mr. Olympia podium. The Austrian didn't win that year, but it was clear he wasn't there to lag behind. In 1970, Arnold overtook Oliva. In 1972, Sergio returned and demonstrated phenomenal form, but it wasn't enough to dislodge Arnold. After this defeat, Oliva retired from competitive sports and turned to coaching. However, in 1984, the champion decided to give his strength another try. He applied to participate in bodybuilding's premier show. Despite his age, Oliva becomes the 8th. In 1985, the athlete repeated his feat and finished eighth in the same tournament.
