Aleksandr Potapov was born on 14 June 1941 in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia]. He was an actor, known for Air Crew (1980), Zhukov (2012) and Vernost (1965). He was married to Natalia and Elena Shestakov. He died on 8 November 2014 in Moscow, Russia.

He and his first wife, Elena Shestakova, have two sons: Sergey, who was born in 1978, and Vladimir, who was born in 1980. Sergey was named after his paternal grandfather, Sergey Stepanovich Potapov.
