- When I was growing up I thought Wham! and anything to do with George Michael was terribly uncool. Back then I was the ultimate indie kid and a devoted Smiths [The Smiths] fan. However my views have completely changed over the years. As I got older I began to appreciate just how talented George Michael really was and I never tire of listening to his music. It doesn't surprise me that so many of his songs have become timeless classics. For someone who was clearly very complicated and perhaps rather vulnerable, George Michael was a man with an incredibly big heart who quietly did so much for charity and was always there to help people in need. I don't think people will forget that.
