Cristu Polucsis (sometimes written Hristu Poluxis) is one of the "forgotten" Romanian filmmakers of the 1960s.
Basic biography: Romanian actor, assistant director, screenwriter and film director. Graduated from the Institute of Theatre Arts (IATC) in Bucharest as an acting student during 1948 to 1950. Worked first as an actor at the National Theatre in Bucharest before moving into filmmaking.
In the early 1960s he appears mainly as an assistant director, including: Secretul cifrului (1960) Nu vreau să mă însor (1961) A fost prietenul meu (1963) Gaudeamus igitur (1965)
His directing career Feature film Fantomele se grăbesc (1966) Short film Moartea căprioarei (1969)
Empress Farah presented Cristu Poluxis with the "Golden Dolphin" in Tehran in 1971, for the film "Moartea căprioarei" (The Death of the Roe Deer). This short film had more international success as an article in România Literară described Moartea căprioareii in January 1972 as having been awarded three times during 1971 at Tehran, Melbourne and Adelaide.
