- Jan Pinkava was born on June 21, 1963 in Prague, Czechoslovakia [now Czech Republic]. He is a producer and director, known for Ratatouille (2007), Geri's Game (1997) and Robots (2005). He has been married to Kay Renhard since September 1994. They have two children.

- Jan won the children's BBC Screen Test animation award in 1980. Host Brian Trueman described his film as 'professional' and later admitted that they could not believe he had produced it all himself. Jan said it took him three weeks with very little sleep. Jan had been runner up in the 1979 contest.
