- Rihards Piks was born on December 31, 1941 in Riga, Latvia. He is a cinematographer and director, known for Vystrel v lesu (1983), Dubultnieks (1986) and Ja nebutu si skuka (1980). He was previously married to Sarmīte.

- In the 1970s, he graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography with a degree in cinematography and the Higher Two-Year Courses for Screenwriters and Directors as a film director.
