Peter Firth and Alexandra Pigg in Letter to Brezhnev (1985)
Two Soviet sailors, Peter and Sergei, go ashore in Liverpool to spend one night on the town. Peter can speak a minimal amount of English but it's enough to make contact with two Liverpudlian natives, Elaine and Theresa. Elaine and Peter immediately fall in love with each other, but the night is short and they must leave with the ship. Elaine can't forget him and writes a letter to Soviet General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev, asking him to make it possible for them to reunite.

Alexandra's real name is Sandra McKibbin. She chose her stage name because it wouldn't be easily forgotten and she thought it would be funny to see cheques made out to A Pigg. She started out by reading her own poems in pubs, followed by a stint at ballet school where she got her Equity card dancing in night clubs using her pet python as a gimmick. Took the role of Petra in the television soap Brookside, then got her big break in the film Letter to Brezchnev.
