Amit Phalke started his career as a child actor at the age of 7 through a Marathi play Mothe Jhale Chhote' by the Natya Sanskar Kala Academy for Kaamgar Kala Sangha (one act play competition). This play got him his first ever award. He then worked in plays like Ek Hota Jungle, Sobat Tujhi Majhi with Usha Naik and Uday Lagoo, Life Partners and several other children plays. Phalke also worked in plays for the Theatre Academy some of which were - Sequence, Mahanirvan and Safar including a Sanskrit play with Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni.

Phalke then got an opportunity to perform at the National School of Drama repertory (NSD) through two plays; Karmawali and Joseph Ka Mukkaddama. During this, Gopi Desai spotted him and selected him as a protagonist of her film Mujhse Dosti Karoge.[2] The film got him his first National Award in 1992 as the Best Child Artist by the hands of the then President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.[3] In 1995, Phalke played the role of small Riyaz in Shyam Benegal's film Mammo,[4][5] starring Rajit Kapoor, Surekha Sikri and Farida Jalal. Amit won the Best Actor for both the films Mujhse Dosti Karoge and Mammoat The Queen's Child Guidance Centre.[6]

In the year 1996, he played the role of Bobby Deol's friend in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial venture Kareeb. In the year 1998-99, he acted in a tele-feature named Padchhaya directed by Vishal Inamdar. Amit has also worked in several regional films like Maherchi Saadi, Sudachakra, Aaila Re along with Aadhar and Mayur Pankha, two episodic serials on DD10 that featured him. He has worked in TVC's for Hajmola and Action Shoes with Kapil Dev.

As a Producer

In the year 2000 he independently started his own production house that catered to Corporate Films, TVCs, Events etc. Client List for which includes - Shop 24 Seven, Zee TV, Sahara Network, Kosmic music, ETV, Sagarika Music, Viraj Steel, Varun Steel, Musicurry, Universal Music, Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Tata Consultancy Services, Britt WorldWide, Amway, Microsoft, State Govt. of Maharashtra, State Govt. of Andhra Pradesh After running this venture successfully he decided to take a plunge in the corporate world.

In the year 2006 he joined Zee Network in the regional department and went on to launch their Regional Film Channel Zee Talkies. He is also instrumental and has been the founder member to start zee's Marathi Film Business where they produced several super hit films like:

As a Director In 2000-01, Directed a show "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai" Bharatratna Smt.Lata Mangeshkar Live in concert in Hyderabad for Zee TV. In 2000-01, Directed an Televised Autobiography on Bharatratna Smt. Lata Mangeshkar for Sahara Network. Directed several Corporate Videos for Britt WorldWide. Directed several promos with the artists of the likes of Asha Bhosale, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Pankaj Udaas, Suresh Wadkar, Ustaad Ahmed Hussain-Mohammed Hussain. In 2005, directed a Short Film (Semi Fiction) "Faith", which got selected in New York Film Festival.

From the year 2010 - 2012 Amit worked as the Asst. Vice-President Events for Zee TV (National). He headed projects like Zee Cine Awards 2011 Singapore, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs Grand Finale Live at Surat, Star Ya Rock Star (Celebrity Singing Talent Show), Dance India Dance Doubles Grand Finale, Zee Rishtey Awards 2011, Zee Cine Awards 2012 Macau, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012

In the year 2012 December, Phalke joined Viacom 18's newly acquired regional channel ETV Marathi as the Programming Head of Non Fiction and launched the Marathi version of the show Kaun Banega Karodpati. The show was named Kon Hoeel Marathi Karodpati with popular actor Sachin Khedekar as the host. This program increased the channel GRPs by 47%, taking ETV Marathi to a newer high.

In the year 2013 November, Phalke moved to the Star Network as the Assoc. Creative Director for their regional channel Star Pravah.

in the year 2017 August, Phalke moved to Sony Picturs Networks India as Vice President, Creative Director and has been in the core team to launch Sony Marathi.
