LaMonica Peters is an award-winning broadcast journalist, media educator, and community storyteller with over a decade of experience across major U.S. media markets. Her journalism career began at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, delivering the morning news as Student Body President. From there, she turned her passion for storytelling into a lifelong mission to amplify underrepresented voices and cover stories that matter most to local communities.
LaMonica holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA and began her career in radio, volunteering at KJLH-FM and hosting The Peters Poll at KPFK-FM. She transitioned to television news in Mississippi, reporting for WXVT and WCBI, where she covered devastating tornadoes, interviewed death row exoneree Sabrina Butler, and earned a Mississippi Associated Press Award for her breast cancer awareness series.
Her work has since spanned the country-from Spectrum News in Buffalo, where she earned a New York State AP Award for Public Service, to KOMO and Q13 in Seattle, to CBS 8 in San Diego, and now KTVU Fox 2 in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has reported live during natural disasters, led civic election coverage, and created compelling human-interest pieces that reflect the pulse of the community.
Nationally, her work has appeared on CNN, CBS, ABC News Live, Spectrum Networks, and Fox. LaMonica is also a respected educator, teaching journalism and media writing at Palomar College and De Anza College.
