Henri Pescarolo

The son of a surgeon, Pescarolo left his medical studies in favor of motor racing. Driving mainly for Matra, he competed in most forms of racing including Formula 1. However it was in sports cars that he made his name. He competed a record 33 times in the Le Mans 24 Hours, winning on four occasions (1972, 1973, 1974 and 1984). In 1984 Pescarolo and Patrick Fourticq set the record for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic from New York-Paris in a single-engined plane. He has since set up his own sports car team, Pescarolo Sport.

He competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with 33 starts (1966-1968, 1970-1999), winning on four occasions (1972, 1973, 1974 and 1984) and ex-Formula 1 race driver.
Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for: Matra (1968 (2 GPs), 1970 (13 GPs)), Williams (1971 (10 GPs)-1972 (9 GPs)-1973 (2 GPs)), March (1973 (1 GP)), BRM (1974 (12 GPs)), BS Fabrications (1976 (7 GPs)). He started 56 Grands Prix, 1 Fastest Lap, 1 Podium and 12 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 12th in 1970.
Teammates in Formula One were: Jean-Pierre Beltoise, Max Jean, José Carlos Pace, Howden Ganley and François Migault.
