Biography

Renee Minus White wrote an article entitled "Karen Perry: costume designer in demand" in the 07-23-1994 edition of New York Amsterdam News: "(Karen Perry )'s the winner of A Time to Style Magazine's Costume Designer of the Year Award for 1994. The lady is a native New Yorker who grew up on West 114th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Her mother has lived there since the 1930s.".

She was awarded the 2014 NAACP Theatre Award for Best Costume Design (Equity) for "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
